Event Report: August 8-14, 2026

Here’s a recap of the community event held from August 8 to August 14.
Last week, thanks to the Obon holiday season, we welcomed many new participants, and people with diverse goals and backgrounds gathered at TIB.
Conversations among participants continued even after the event ended, making it a week filled with new connections and expanding interactions.

=====

August 11(Tue) Lunch Time Meetup

This time, we had many first-time participants and first-time visitors join us.
Since the event took place during the Obon holiday period, it provided an opportunity for people who normally find it difficult to attend weekday daytime Meetups to join us.
Participants came from a wide range of backgrounds, including those looking to try something new, those seeking ideas for new products, and consultants and business support professionals.
Networking continued for about two hours after the event ended, as participants exchanged views on their respective initiatives and challenges, fostering mutual understanding and forging new connections.

August 12(Wed) TIB Facility Tour

Despite it being the Obon holiday period, a record-high 23 people signed up for this TIB facility tour.
Participants included a diverse group of people, such as those involved in the startup scene, supporters, and individuals interested in entrepreneurship.
During the networking session following the tour, participants asked questions and exchanged opinions on specific topics such as “Should I choose to operate as a sole proprietor or a corporation?” and “How do I acquire customers in the early stages of starting a business?”
There was also significant interest in the newly launched “TIB SANDBOX,” creating new points of connection between participants and other TIB programs. The event served not only as an opportunity to familiarize participants with the facility but also as a stepping stone toward their next challenges and endeavors.

August 13(Thu) TIB Global Coffee Meetup

Despite the Obon holiday period and unfavorable weather, we were joined by participants from diverse backgrounds.
This time, we gathered a wide range of participants involved in the startup ecosystem, including investors, entrepreneurs, and university researchers and students.
Participants had a variety of motivations for attending, ranging from those who became interested in Tokyo’s startup ecosystem while on a business trip to domestic college students seeking opportunities to communicate in English.
Even those who were not accustomed to conversing in English actively sought to communicate using translation tools and other resources, fostering exchanges that transcended language and background.
After the event concluded, many participants remained at the venue to continue exchanging information and networking, creating opportunities for new connections to form.
